Our Projects

Midwest Testing is known for developing creative and cost effective solutions to complex problems which ultimately prove to be beneficial to our client’s budget and schedule. We have completed over 10,000 projects for contractors, owners, and developers. Company experience includes commercial, industrial, medical, and mid- to-high rise office buildings, as well as highway and government projects.

Noteworthy projects include:

  • Design and construction testing of numerous reinforced earth slopes, including slopes to 175 feet in height and 50°inclination
  • Design of both internally braced and tieback shoring systems for excavations
  • Seismic analyses for the earthquake structural retrofitting of existing buildings
  • Development of dynamic compaction methods for densification of rubble fill and loose sands
  • Design of deep (up to 125 feet), high–density earth and rock fills
  • Levee underseepage studies and associated U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 408 permitting
  • Liquefaction, seismic site classification, and foundation support analyses for construction in soft soil and floodplain environments
  • Design of geogrid–reinforced MSE (mechanically stabilized earth) retaining walls up to 60 feet in height
  • Design and testing for lime, soil–cement, Class C fly–ash, and cement kiln dust (CKD) stabilization projects
  • Development of monitoring techniques and engineering of systems for ground water and seepage control during the Missouri River floods of 1993 and 1995
  • Investigation and design of slope stabilization measures including reinforced slopes, subsurface drains, rock buttresses, soil-nail walls, and tied-back soldier beam and lagging walls
  • Design of channel and bank improvements for erosion–plagued drainageways
  • Investigation of subsidence, and design of remedial measures and monitoring systems for abandoned mines
  • Geophysical exploration for seismic shear wave velocity, and sinkhole and abandoned mine identification
  • Forensic analysis for settlement, landslides, heave, and mine subsidence
  • Comprehensive geotechnical studies for large shopping centers and bulk warehouse distribution centers
  • Soils, concrete, asphalt, fireproofing, roofing, and steel testing
